As anti-LGBTQ+ legislation intensified in Kazakhstan, queer visibility in public spaces became increasingly restricted. For BLUSH, a queer bar in Almaty, we created “Physics of Pride”: a visual identity rooted in optical dispersion, making diversity impossible to ban by grounding it in a natural phenomenon.

We passed white projector light through BLUSH’s signature cocktails, using each liquid as a physical filter to produce unique spectra. Captured without digital effects or artificial gradients, 57 spectral shades shaped the identity across menus, posters, merch, motion graphics, and social content. Generated by real light and liquid, no spectrum could be reproduced exactly twice.
